Thomas Johnson has been trying cases in Richmond and surrounding areas since 1995.  His practice primarily consists of civil litigation representing victims who have suffered injury through no fault of their own in automobile or commercial vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and wrongful death claims.  Having experience in every aspect of criminal law, to include capital murder, Thomas also represents individuals charged with serious criminal matters resulting in felony prosecution throughout the state.

A former career prosecutor, Thomas has spent his entire practice in the courtroom.  He began as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond where he quickly rose as one of the areas top homicide and violent crime prosecutors during a time when Richmond’s homicide rate was at a record high.  After four years in Richmond, Thomas joined a firm specializing in insurance defense.  While there, he also developed a strong criminal defense practice.  From there, he went on to another Richmond area firm representing personal injury victims all while growing his criminal defense practice.  In 2012, after returning to prosecution in Richmond for several years, Thomas was asked to serve as Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in Henrico County where he served as a homicide prosecutor and director of the DUI and vehicular manslaughter team.  He joined BrickerAnderson, PC as an associate in January of 2016 and became a partner six months later.

Thomas is a graduate of the College of William & Mary where he earned his BA in government and currently serves as President of the Hulon-Willis Alumni Association.  He received his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.  A native of Tappahannock, Virginia, Thomas is also a proud graduate of Essex High School.  Thomas remains active in community and civic affairs in his hometown as well as in Goochland County where he resides with his wife and two children.

THOMAS L. JOHNSON, JR., PARTNER

“Navigating the litigation process can be frightening for most people largely because it’s an area in which they have very little exposure until they are directly impacted.  I consider my ability to communicate with my clients my greatest asset.  Our firm’s small size allows us to give each case the detail and attention it deserves, and insures that the client understands every single aspect of their case at every stage.”  ~Thomas Johnson
